LOST COIN CLASS NOTES for May 29, 2007

Concentrate on self observation: see yourself as you are watching a movie with you in the movie. Do not judge yourself, if you do your emotions get involved and it is no longer objective observation.

General Paradiagm: We live mechanically, we do not choose our daily actions or behaviors, and we continue to repeat them even when it is not working for us/others. Choose to live your life consciously, choose to be awake. We should be terrified to live our lives mechanically. Daniel says he is much more forgiving of us falling asleep than others. What goes on in our heads is our life.

Chaos Theory: Small factors create huge results. A very small change in your mind (3%) of being awake more, can make a significant difference in your life. Example: A butterfly in the desert beats its wings and causes a small current of air, this gathers more with the shift in temperature, then it becomes a wind that eventually gains speed and moves accross the desert and into the ocean, becomes a hurricane goes onto land becomes a tornado in Kansas and kills you.

Mechanicalness is generally negative, you will find later that when you are less mechanical you don't go to insensitive places with others, they respond to you differently, and both are more kind.

When Sigmond Freud was developing psychoanalytic theory, he was worried about the projection of the therapist onto the patient.

Completing the octave- the most central negative factor we have is fear. In the wisdom tradition the master has mastered himself/herself.

FEAR: is not just when you are afraid of something, it is ubiquitas, having to be right, insecurity, anxiety, impatience, fearing of having to. Fear makes you inner consider. Fear is the enemy, it is what makes you unhappy. No fear allows things to be. Chief feature is a particular type of fear.

CONTINUE SELF OBSERVAION++ Daniel challenges us to find a time that you feel bad that is not fear. Just find one time, that is the task.

Everything negative you feel is fear. All forward thinking anxiety is fear. You can refuse not to be fearful but you have to stay awake. When you are fearful you cannot differentiate, but you must so you can survive. Then the development begins, we learn the 'I'ness function. Pure consciousness stands against fear.
G's Beelzebub page 361

Faith of consciousness is freedom, not the contents, but the mind.

Faith of feeling is weakness.

Faith of body is stupidity.

Love of consciousness evokes the same.

Faith of emotion equals faith of analysis.

Loving or being loved by someone evokes the same.

Love of feeling evokes the opposite. The more attached you are to your emotions the less everyone else likes it.

Hope of consciousness is strength.

Hope of feeling is slavery.

Hope of body is disease.

The I's form these in reaction to fear. The opposite of fear is conscious suffering. Doing something that is difficult but brings more awakened self is conscious suffering, this is the opposite of fear.

Sacrifice is when you give up something to stay awake. eg. getting up an hour earlier in the am to meditate. Give up something in order to accumulate something to be more awake.

Small Groups: take turns recapitulation- each person is to think about a very fearful situation (preferrably in the present) and go through it out loud in detail and be open to the fear, feel it. Afterward each other in the group will give feedback to you as you felt the fear.

Daniel says show up as much as possible, he will be out of town for a week in early July, and will let us know when exactly.

Try to feel what it feels like for a few moments to have no fear. All negative emotion is in you not external to you. We have negative emotion first and then try to find an external cause.
